This was taken on my first real vacation out West. My destination at the time was Yellowstone National Park. But after checking out the airport location in Jackson Hole, WY my husband and I realized that we would be driving right past The Grand Teton National Park. So I reserved a cabin at Colter Bay for two nights.  Yes thats right....only two nights...ugh! I just had no idea of the breathtaking beauty of the Tetons. The Grand Teton National Park deserves no less than a week of exploration....needless to say we will be going back!

One of the days we spent at Yellowstone, we took a photography tour.  During this tour we learned a lot of valuable information regarding places to go in the park for some great photography. This place was a little tidbit shared by our guide....it did not disappoint!! The light on the mountains and mist over the water was stunning.

The Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, WY

The first view of these mountains brought tears to my eyes, it was the most humbling, wonderful feeling. A feeling that pulls on me to return here every time I see these mountains. I can't explain it....this was taken at sunrise from a roadside pull off.

Mormon Row, view of the Tetons, Jackson Hole, WY.

At Mormon Row there are several barns that are the icons to photograph. I didn't want to replicate the usual photographs taken from this historic area. I was lucky enough to find this composition, which enabled me to capture two small cabins and the Tetons as the backdrop.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park, the Lower Falls.

Thanks to our photography guide we discovered that for a brief window of around ten minutes each day, from a certian point, at a certian time, this rainbow appears. It doesn't last for very long, and only stays this vivid for about a minute then begins to fade. Nature is a beautiful thing, and I was lucky enough to capture this photograph.

The Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park.

Canon T6i, Canon EFS 10-22mm lens, settings: ISO 100 / 22mm / f/20 / 1/40 sec.

Taken from a vantage point that was once only accessed by brave/crazy photographers climbing up the side of a mountain trying to get a view of the entire Spring. The vantage point has now been improved and turned into a an official viewing area of the Spring by the Parks Service. It is a very steep climb up to reach the platform, but well worth it for images like this.

Taken from a pull off along a winding mountain road of an unnamed valley. It seemed to go on forever, it was very majestic, peaceful...
